Primary Theme In the book Brave New World, our group decided the primary theme was... "Humanity relies on our emotions." The universal meaning of this theme is that we should always have feelings towards our society and how we are feeling about it. If we ever stop having feelings, such as love we could have a future like in the utopia of Brave New World. In the book, all the characters have no feelings for each other and all they think about is theirselves. An example would be Lenina, she doesn't have feelings for other people. All Lenina wants to have pleasure through sex. What made us realize the author was trying to tell us this is becuase he had a character that was showing us the bad things of the Brave New World. The character was Brenard, he didn't want to have sex with Lenina till they got married becuase he truely "loved" her. Lenina was shocked he even talked about marriage and love. We should always have feelings/emotions towards people or we would have to live like in the book.

I choose this theme because john didn't Belive in how they lived and how they created the humans he also belived in having feelings and staying pure until marriage , he also belived in not having sec until you meet the right person, even though no one agreed with his choice, he didn't care he still stood with his choice at the end of the book he destroyed the fertilization and ended up killing him self because he didn't agree with there society and he had enough

I believe soma is a symbol becuase they use it as a drug and it makes them forget about about how cruel their "brave new world" really is. In the book, brave new world the society uses it as a drug, just like in our world how people use drug to change how they feel and to alter their emotions. In the book the whole society has to take soma daily. They usually take it when they aren't feeling good or they just feel out of place. One of the characters in the novel, Brenard refuses to take soma. This shows how since Brenard is different like everyone else and acts differently the soma won't affect how he thinks about his society. I believe soma symbolizes how in our world we use drugs to make us happier and forget about our problems.
